Bugzilla – Bug 6485
"playername is having trouble connecting to servername" screen and then more bad stuff.
Last modified: 2008-05-15 13:01:12 UTC
I suspended my SC process for a few minutes to test the error handling on Jive/Ray via ctl-z. After trying to browse for a few seconds, I got a problem connecting screen, as expected. Resumed the SC process. My player, named Ray (after Ray Charles) reconnected fine, as did the Jive. A few seconds later, though, I got a warning "Ray is having trouble connecting to firebook.local". Choosing "Try Again" didn't help, I got the same message again. Subsequently, I got a red wireless icon, though I appear to be connected to the network. Can't switch players. When I tried to go and view "Wireless Network" settings, the Finding Networks progress window just spins. Tried to power down, got stuck on Goodbye screen and it wouldn't shut down. Hard power cycle and things are better. Alas, didn't have an SD card to capture the log. Will try to reproduce with a log.

Richard: what do you think?
I had this recently after resuscitate a Receiver last night. Doing the setup from jive connected to network, but when set to connect to my music server, Ray connected fine, but Jive reported that the player was having trouble, and refused to add the player to the list until I rebooted Jive. It did not stick on goodbye in my case.
Testing a fix.
Several Comet connections issues have been fixed. Jive reconnects to SC fine at r1681.
