Description Ben Klaas 2007-12-22 14:26:48 UTC
Every now and then I wake up thinking HEY! I want Jive to do <something cool>!

Rather than lose these ideas into the ether, I'm going to use this bug to jot them down...

PublicRadioFan.com plugin should be viewable from Jive. Probably should contact the PublicRadioFan.com owner and ask permission. This plugin also has not web UI available, because the website owner didn't want it to be. He needs to be shown the light.

Jive Calendar applet. In a perfect world it could inform you of upcoming GoogleCalendar appointments, but I'd be satisfied if it was just a read-only calendar view that highlights today in a month view.

Audioscrobbler/Last.FM has some extended features which might be fun to have accessible from Jive:
Upcoming events in your area that fit with your tastes (this is a GREAT feature of the Last.fm website, and would love to see it on Jive)
Your top 100 tracks listened to
Your top 100 artists
Your top artists listened to in the past week
What your friends are listening to (?)

PartyMode applet-- go to Settings->Advanced->Party Mode and disable the play button with a checkbox.

This way partygoers could add songs to a playlist during a party but not hit play and a) stop the music and b) wipe the existing playlist

LockKeys applet so you can carry the Jive around in your pocket safely

Reset priority

Radiotime includes program schedule data for many stations. If they could provide that via the opml interface, that might be an alternative to publicradiofan.com and would expand support to other stations. Just a thought...

Interesting idea Fletch, but looking at what RadioTime has catalogued for Public Radio programming...it's extremely limited. The real value in Publicradiofan.com is the database, which is amazingly extensive.

I'm going to approach the Publicradiofan.com maintainer and see if there's any chance of getting and OPML feed of listings from that site. The two big issues I have with that plugin are that it relies on web scraping and it doesn't use async HTTP. The latter is fixable on our side, the former...not so much.

I should also note, I have a hacked version of the Publicradiofan.com plugin that sends content to the controller. It's not for public consumption, but I'd be happy to share it with anyone that has actually read this far in my bug comment :)

Hi Ben,

I'd love to try out your SBC version - can you email it to me?

BTW, I'm currently running a slightly modified version of the plugin that adds an SC settings page and auto-detects alien. If it helps, my patch is posted in http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39963 but the current maintainer declined to adopt it.

RadioTime includes all publicradiofan information plus more, they license the prf database and map/extend the lineup AND programming details tracked. Please share anything missing with support@radiotime.com

this isn't related to this bug, just testing the bugzilla regex for auto-creating links
