Description BONNEAU Tanguy 2007-12-19 05:09:18 UTC
When I don't restart softsqueeze after some hours, its playlist is empty.
More generally, I think, when a player is disconnected from squeezecenter after some time, playlist is automatically deleted. But I didn't test it with my squeezebox.
Comment 1 Blackketter Dean 2007-12-28 05:44:00 UTC
That shouldn't happen unless SoftSqueeze has lost its unique PlayerID.

QA to reproduce.
Comment 2 Ross Levine 2008-01-02 18:38:22 UTC
Is the SqueezeCenter computer running debian, or the computer connecting from softsqueeze? Could you share more details on the disconnect?

SqueezeCenter log

I play music during some time, after that I shutdown softsqueeze.
About 20 minutes after, I restart the same softsqueeze and squeezecenter find a new player (same MAC address)

SqueezeCenter is running on Linux Debian.
All SoftSqueeze are running on windows (I test it in my localhost (direct streaming), and at work (though ssh tunnel with streaming encoding)

When I launch SoftSqueeze, I compose my playlist.
If I stop SoftSqueeze and restart it quickly (2-3 mins) the playlist is still present. But if I stop the player during lunch time (2 hours), when I launch again softsqueeze, the playlist is empty.
This problem appears with both players (direct streaming and through ssh tunnel).

It seems the problem only concerns playlist. I configured softsqueeze player menu and audio and all options stay even if playlist disappears.

I give in attachments a log of slimserver with "control.stdio", "network.protocol", "player.playlist", "server" debug options set to "info".

I tried an over night test and I'm still not able to reproduce this. SC 7.0 - 14113 Ubuntu 7.04, SoftSqueeze is running on an XP computer connecting to this server. I created a playlist and listened to a few tracks, then shut down SoftSqueeze and went home, now back in the morning I opened SoftSqueeze and checked my now playing, and its still there on the track I left off last night ~7. Perhaps the tunnel has something to do with it?

I made the same test yesterday, and I have the same results.
At home, directly connected to slimserver, using softsqueeze 3.5, the playlist is recovered correctly when I launched the player after some time.
So the tunnel seems to be the problem.

Sorry for the delay. I got a chance to test this today over ssh, I'm connecting to a pc at home running ubuntu and SC7, with port forwards and dyndns I'm able to stream to Squeezeboxes and soft squeeze here at the office. I setup a playlist with softsqueeze, played a few tracks, closed softsqueeze and re-opened 20 minutes later. The playlist is preserved. Then I tried closing the ssh and re-opening, re-opened soft squeeze and the playlist is still preserved. Then I closed softsqueeze, and waited 2 hours, re-opened softsqueeze and the playlist is still preserved.

Still unable to reproduce. Do you still see this issue?

Hi

No, I have always the same problem.

After some time (about 20 minutes), my softsqueeze playlist is deleted.
Your procedure test seems to be closed to my situation... the only differences are I play random playlist, songs are compressed on the fly and I'm running SoftSqueeze under WinXP.

It's not a big problem, but it strange you don't manage to reproduce it :S

My SqueezeCenter version is : SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 17793 - Debian - EN - iso-8859-15
I think is the latest available.

If I'm alone to have this kind of problem, you can close this bug, it doesn't matter to create a new random playlist every day ;)

http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/SqueezeCenter_trunk_v2008-04-07/squeezecenter_7.0.1~18481_all.deb

This is the latest available. I too am running XP for the SoftSqueeze computer, however there is no server side transcoding in my scenario.

I'm going to close this bug for now. If you have any other ideas to help me reproduce, or if anyone else sees this, please feel free to re-open.

I have more information about bad random playlist behaviour.
If I play songs from one particular album, the playlist is saved. If I restart player later, all songs are correctly loaded.
If I play random mix, when I close softsqueeze and restart it later, previous playlist (all songs from particular album) is loaded and random mix is stopped.

So random playlist mix aren't saved.
