Jive FW:  FW Independent

Steps to Reproduce:
1.  Take the SD card out of the Jive.
2.  Turn off all PCs at home.  Make sure there is no SqueezeCenter running anywhere in the house.
3.  On the Jive, pick the "Software Update" menu item.  Jive can only be updated from the network.  (There is a item jumping bug on Jive.  Without the SD card, that is taken out of the equation.))
4.  After the update is completed, pick the "About" menu item.
5.  Notice it says 1 r1123.
6.  Today is Sunday, 2007-12-16.  Two days ago, the version updated from network was 1 r1150.

wasn't this part of the deliberate attempt to get r1123 out there for testing?

As kdf says this was a requested change to the firmware available on SN for testing.
