Description Philip Meyer 2007-12-14 10:06:37 UTC
Having got SVN latest and restarted my server.
I was requested to update the Transporter firmware, which I did successfully.
I then tried to play an album. The transporter Now Playing screen said the current song was playing, but it wasn't. It would not start a track until I paused and unpaused, and would not play the next song once the previous song had finished until I paused/unpaused. The progress bar and time remaining didn't update either (when song really was playing).

My other player (SB2) was also awaiting a firmware upgrade. I believe this was the cause of the problem. After I updated that, the problem playing tracks disapeared on the transporter.

Will take a look.

Just as an additional data point: didn't happen to me. I just updated my "production" system to the latest nightly. All but one player were set to update firmware automatically. They would happily play along, while the other player waiting for the update.

Phil - do you know whether you had your players synced or something? Can you reproduce the issue?
Comment 3 Philip Meyer 2007-12-18 01:36:50 UTC
Yes, I believe synchronisation could be a factor.

I thought they weren't synced - that syncing was disabled when a player was turned off. But I have discovered that the web UI doesn't indicate players are synced if one player is off.

I was caught out when I turned both players on to find that syncing was restored. I usually only have one player on at a time. There is no way to turn off sync playback before turning a player back on. Perhaps the web UI should indicate when syncing is on, and in the sync dialog, when sync is set up but not currently synced, display a grey tick?

So, I believe that after restart of my server, both players were requesting a firmware update. These players were synced. I could not update the firmware.

After taking a later SVN version and restarting the server, all was well (players were still synced).

I've added unsync code in change 15420 for players that need a firmware update. This should fix this bug, please test and reopen if needed.
