Bugzilla – Bug 6353
Squeezebox turned off display turns black
Last modified: 2011-03-16 04:24:57 UTC
When the SB is turned off the display turns black. In previous versions of SC the display showed the current time. Revision 15264 does not give such option for "Screensaver when off". I this a bug or our do i miss something? Ray

this really should have gone to forum or support@slimdevices before being filed. If you do not KNOW it is a bug, it needs more investigation before simply filing. 1) press brightness button (brightness is stored separately for idle, off and playing modes) 2) check logs (problems with a screensaver would show there) 3) check player settings for screensaver chosen If you need help with any of the above, you'll get lots of help on the forum. May I ask why you decided to file here to ask your question? I get the feeling something somewhere is pointing people here prematurely. Bugzilla is more for tracking confirmed issues.
KDF, Ok, I understand your point, however this issue occured right after a svn update, without any changes to the SC settings. So it seems more likely that this is a bug, rather than a misconfigured system. So this is the reason why I put it here. But maybe your are right, the brightness could be put to the wrong value. I will check this later on. No one told me to put this issue in bugzilla, this was my own decision. Next time I shall go to the forum first.
Thanks. that is always helpful. Issues like this sound just too much like all to common simple mistakes, and it saves a lot of time for the precious little resources at this level if it is something that can be solved through forum posts. We need to keep developers working on code fixes, rather than going through setup questions whereever possible. The extra steps you take are appreciated, and it will lead to a more precise bug report when the need arises.
This is not a bug. This was a configuration issue. Enabling the Time & Date screensaver plugin solved the issue.
