Description Blackketter Dean 2007-12-09 08:26:17 UTC
The Music Source setting in Settings -> Controller Settings needs to become a top level setting and allow you to move the player to another discovered server, SqueezeNetwork, or enter another IP address.

I'll steal this one, I was going to be refactoring the music source code this week.

I was going to open a new bug, but I think this belongs here. I had a lot of difficulty setting up Jive in a configuration where I have 3 IP subnets: SC on one, 2 SB2's on another, wireless Jive on the third. Obviously, the Jive setup couldn't find a SC, but I couldn't get into Settings->Music Source no matter what I tried - it would just beep but not enter the menu. Here's what I did to get it to work:

- Install and run a SC on the same wireless subnet as Jive
- Connect a SoftSqueeze to SC (also on the same wireless subnet)
- Factory reset Jive
- Run the setup
- Connect to the SoftSqueeze (which was discovered properly)
- Now I could get to Settings->Music Source
- Enter my SC IP which is on the other subnet

At this point it works, with the following issues:
- When I entered the IP of my main SC, there was no way to exit the
screen other than pressing home. It seems to have saved the value
though.
- I can no longer get back into Music Source. It only let me get there once
the first time. This is the case whether I leave the second SC (on the wireless subnet) running
or stop it.

fletch - yes seeing this too, the patch in r1323 should allow the menu to be displayed.

Indeed it does. Thanks.

sounds fixed then. reopen if I'm wrong.
Comment 6 Mark Miksis 2008-01-11 09:56:04 UTC
The issue where there is no clean way to exit the IP setting page still exists. It's just cosmetic, but I suppose it should have the double-click to finish method that a few other screens have.

My mistake, sorry. This is fixed in the latest firmware. It doesn't use the double-click, but it exits cleanly.

Actually that whole menu needs to change, so I am reopening this bug. You need to be able to tell you current player to switch servers.

*** Bug 6642 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 10 Richard Titmuss 2008-01-20 02:11:52 UTC
Music source menu has now been changed to allow the player to be moved between different SqueezeCenters. You are still able to specify a SqueezeCenter using an ip address.

This still does not allow you to specify a new SqueezeCenter during setup, this will be fixed in a future release. See bug 6673.

This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1

Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug.
