Bugzilla – Bug 628
track restarts over and over when search display is on screen using the remote
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:52:15 UTC
Running 5.3.1 released build on Win 2k server. Server is running Active Perl. 512M memory. Library approximately 16K+ songs. To recreate the problem, use music search by artist name via the remote. Select an album (in this case I start with a track that is encoded (5:59) (128kbps CBR). After the track starts playing, press the left arrow on the remote to go back. Go back to start erasing part of the artist's name but leave three letters (I have recreated this with varying number of letters). Wait. After approx 20 sec. the track will restart. This continues until you use the remote to move off of the search screen. Noticed this as we were playing a series of artists and wanted to add something else, then got interrupted. The same thing will happen if you are in the middle of playing a song, and someone navigates to the search artist screen (always with the remote) but never finishes entering the search. This may occur with other types of searches, I have note tested it to see.
I cant make this happen on my setup. However, some recent changes alter the way the squeezebox handles resets. if your player is resetting somehow, songs will restart. recent change makes sure that if its only a network dropout, that it will not start the song over. if you try the latest nightly, it might improve things a bit: http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest/
This is a wired squeezebox. Did notice on further investigation that the squeezebox displays the message "Lost connection with server..." Can't get the exact wording but I'm sure you know the message. Installed the nightly 10/19/04. The track no longer restarts but every 18-20 sec. the screen on the squeezebox flashes "Lost connection to server..." for 1/2 sec. or so. The track continues to play without interruption. One more thing... now the screensaver will eventually return to 'now playing', before installing 10/19, it never would launch the screen saver. All in all, I would say it's better but the intermittent "Lost connection to server..." message is distracting but not critical to listening.
There are 536 bugs in the database with targets of '---' that were fixed prior to new year 2006. I am setting them to targets of 6.2.1 to keep them from showing up in my queries.
Routine bug db maintenance; removing old versions which cause confusion. I apologize for the inconvenience.
