Description Stefan Kinell 2007-11-20 06:05:32 UTC
Many of my albums show up multiple times when browsing for an artis -> album. E.g. I've got three times "Born in the USA" under Bruce springsteen. This is not true for all ablums though, but most of them. Can it have something to do with my iTunes import? It works to play music from both instances.

can you tell us anything at all about the albums that ARE showing multiples, versus those that are fine?
Do you have all of the track in each copy, or just some in each?
Are all of the tracks in the same folder?
What audio format?
Do the multiples go away if you use a music folder only, and turn off iTunes?
Do they go away if you do a wipe and rescan?

If you go to a specific track in each of the multiples what is the location given on the songinfo page?

Please also have a search on bugzilla for "multiple" to see if any other reports match your case.

Sorry guys, this "bug" was probably created by myself. My music library resides under /storage/music and that is what I put under the basic settings. I also have a link to /storage/music from /music, which I entered uner the iTunes settings when trying different things that would solv my iTunes playlist bug I encountered. Obviously, Squuezecenter thought this was two different sets of music and displayed "everything" twice. I realised this after looking at the song info in the web-UI. After altering the path in the iTunes settings and rescannig, I no longer had multiples.

Does this mean that you need to have songs from the same album in the same folder for them to show up togeather? Why Aren't you just relying on the ID3-tags? If they state the same album, should they not be displayed as the same album?

it's called the "greatest hits" problem. same name doesn't mean anything, then it's even more complicated when you have albums that DO have many artists, bands, composers, conductors, etc. The solution for SC is same folder. It is very effective. Yes, it's not how everyone does it, but we've been down this road before and this is the result.
