Bugzilla – Bug 6185
Choose Player hangs/crashes Jive Handset
Last modified: 2008-12-15 12:38:02 UTC
Background: SqueezeCenter running on Windows 2000 Pro, nightly build from 16th Nov 2007. (The problem was first noticed with an earlier build, so I downloaded the latest in case it was a server-side issue). I have two players, a Transporter (firmware 33) and a SB2 (firmware 83). First noticed this problem at Jive firmware r890, and it has remained since then, currently on r915. Problem: if the Jive handset is left switched on and in the charging cradle for a period of time (a few hours), then when you next pick it up, it works fine except if you try to invoke Choose Player. At this point, the choose player screen is displayed, but the wireless icon immediately turns blue (which I believe means Jive has lost contact with SqueezeCenter). At this point, you can scroll between the players on the screen, and you can shut down the Jive handset by holding down the home button for 2 seconds (and the normal "Goodbye" screen is displayed). However, if you attempt to move off the choose player screen (eg. press the back, home or go keys), the handset crashes and can only be switched off by holding down the home button for 10+ seconds.
ok here. svn is at 923, so best to upgrade.
I've experienced this a number of times. I'm currently on r890, but this issue has been around for at least the past 5-6 firmware releases. I've been trying to reproduce a problem which occurred frequently (jive doesn't connect to network on boot), and this no longer seems to occur; what I get instead is either a white network status indicator w/no players, or the problem here, where the player names appear. When I try to switch to another player, I get stuck on an empty page which has only the player title and the remote is stuck. I've just turned on Jive, and there are only 3 menu items (Extras, Settings, and Choose Player) with a white connection indicator. I select Choose Player. There are no players. So I update. I'm now on r923. Same things - 3 menus, no players. The problem described here occurs for me when I reset the unit, select a player, reboot, and then try to change players.
The problem switching players has been fixed in r924.
