Bugzilla – Bug 6167
Random Mix "recently played songs" value can not be set to zero.
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:53 UTC
When entering a value of "0" in the "recently played songs" field under Random Mix and saving the value is cleared out. This should not be happening. With all SlimServer 6 versions this doesn't happen. The value of "0" can be saved successfully which has always been my preference.
Adrian - you changed this behaviour during the great preference migration (change 11744). Do you remember why you did so? Frank - please don't preset targets. And 'major' is a bit much for that buglet, too.
I was under the assumption I needed to choose a value for the target milestone field. Sorry, this was my first bug submission and yes, 'major' is a bit much. I should have marked it as 'normal'. I'll do better with my next bug submission. Thanks.
I wanted to point out that there is a difference between a blank value and a "0" value for the "x recently played songs" setting. When this setting is blank songs are never removed from the playlist. As a result the playlist becomes increasing larger as each new mix is added, especially when running a Random Artist mix. This is a very undesired result, specifically with regards to the SlimServer activity Barry Gordon and I are developing for the Pronto Professional line of remotes. With our activity the user must configure the settings for Random Mix in the configuration file that's downloaded to the remote, minus the genre filtering which is done on the fly. So for now we're going with a default value of "1" for "x recently played songs", but would like to go with a default value of "0" as is possible with SlimServer 6.5.5 and lower.
Created attachment 2426 [details] patch to revert change Michael - I probably didn't understand the difference between '' and 0 and this was motivated by wanting to validate the pref as an int. Attached patch should revert behaviour, but don't have time to test - please do so and commit as appropriate.
work for me. merged into trunk at change 14856 and marking as closed. Frank, please update to the latest nightly tomorrow and give it a test. Please reopen if you have any issues.
Thanks! I will make sure to update to the latest nightly tomorrow and test. Will reopen if I have any issues.
This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
