Description Steve Sheafor 2007-11-12 11:05:00 UTC
In the Default skin starting with the Beta version of 7.0 - 14539, if a track has a Composer it is displayed at the top of the Playlist panel instead of the Artist. This is still wrong in 14627, and was correct in 14406 and all earlier versions.

The Fishbone skin works correctly.

I believe this is probably the result of fixing bug 6094. please attach a screenshot as the description is not clear.

This screenshot shows the erroneous Artist.

The attached JPG shows the error, which is in the upper Now Playing part of the playlist panel. As you can see from both the Playlist and the Song display to the left, the Artist is "2 Wild". I have inserted a dummy Composer "SqueezeCenter Test", as can also be seen in the song display. The Now Playing display says "SqueezeCenter Test" in the Artist line. If the song does not have a Composer, the Now Playing panel correctly displays the Artist. This displayed correctly in all versions I have tested on or before 11/8 (14406), and incorrectly after that starting with 14539.

The fix for bug 6094 was betwen these two versions, and it is related to the Artist display, so I think you are definitely right about this fix being the cause of the problem. I would propose that you should not display the Composer in this area.

Change 14651 - please test and report back.

The Artist is now correctly included in the display. My personal vote would be against cluttering the display with the Composer (it isn't shown in Fishbone, for example), although including the Album Artist does make sense.

Thanks for the confirmation.

That feature has been asked for as eg. for friends of classical music the conductor is almost as important as the composer etc.
