Description Barry Gordon 2007-11-12 06:20:55 UTC
The songinfo request returns an item called band. This item has a value of 0 indicating it is not there or unknown or not implemented. In a post on the developer forum it was stated that it is coming in 7.0. I am now doing all my CLI testing against 7.0. Any idea when it will be there?

cc'ing fred as well

It should work provided there is a band tag in the song. What command is failing ? Note some tags have changed between 6.x and 7.0, check the doc.

Barry can provide further clarification on what command is failing. I can tell you this much. Every song in my music library contains a BAND tag which displays properly via the SlimServer web interface. Via the "Song Info" window of our Pronto SlimServer activity however, the "Band" field remains blank as seen via the link below.

This has been the case with every SlimServer 7 version tested so far, including the latest nightly build from today. If I'm reading Barry's opening comments here correctly when requesting songinfo over the CLI an item called band is coming back. The problem is that it's coming back with a value of "0" even in cases where a given song contains a valid BAND tag as is the case with a given song from my music library.

Interesting. In the CLI documentation for version 6.5.4 songinfo returns a tag "band" (tag letter "b") If I issue a CLI to get songinfo it always comes back as 0, whether there is band info or not.

In SqueezeCenter version 7 (all nightlies so far) band never comes back on a songinfo request and it is not documented as a valid tag any longer in the CLI documentation for 7.0. At least the system is self consistent

It does not appear as deprecated either but I guess that is logical as you only list deprecated commands. When discussing the changes for version 7 I do see mention of the new J tag but no mention of the removal of the b tag (Band)

Right, thanks for the clarifications on what you're doing/expecting. It helps!

I'd suggest you try tag A. It should return band:X, Y, Z, along with other contributors of the song according to the tags.

The warning about this tag change was in the doc ("Updated queries "status", "titles", "playlists tracks" and "songinfo" for artist(s) and genre(s) tags.") -- but I have made it more explicit since you missed it.

Let me know how tag A works for you.

Barry, any feedback?
Comment 7 Barry Gordon 2007-12-21 06:47:54 UTC
Sorry, That one dropped off the stove (further off than back burner). I Do not have any songs with pure band info in my library, but my partner in crime does. He is unavailable at the moment but I will get back to you. Thanks for the reminder.
