Nov. 8th build.  I uninstalled a prior 7 installation and manually removed the remaining Squeezecenter directory.  I did NOT manually check/clean the registry.

The music IP settings appear to not be used.  At least the number of tracking setting - very difficult to tell of the other ones are used/ignored.

I set the number of tracks to 60 and the playlist generated was only the default of 12.  I confirmed that the server settings page was set to 60 and that it was saved.

Do you have the paid version of MusicIP?  I believe there are some limits on what the mix will do with the free version, regardless of settings.

Yes I do.  It was generating lists of 50 prior to the upgrade.

OK, this is getting very odd.

When I researched/wrote this up I went into the setting option a few times - each time closing the settings screen and reopening it later.  Each time it showed 60 in it.

I ended up completely leaving the IE browser for a while.  I go back in because I have an idea that maybe 50 is some sort of musicIP limit and I was going to try that instead of 60.  When I go back into the settings screen it is sitting at 12 (the default).  Now when I first got the screen to change it to 60 it was blank, not 12.  Then I did save it as 60 several times and pulled it back up again several times.  How did it reset?

After it was 12 I could change it to 60.

Is there some sort of sync process that occurs right after a new install and I was just too early?

logging: prefs and plugin.musicmagic to DEBUG. cc'ing michael in case this might have something to do with the prefs relocation in winxp.

Could you also see whether there's a musicmagic.pres file in the prefs/plugins folder?

Everything appears to be working fine now.  It started working ok about 20 minutes after the install finished, +/-.
There is a musicmagic.perfs in the doc&settings subfolder.

Well, that's a good question - your call.  I left it open because it appears to be working now - at least I haven't been able to duplicate the problem anymore.  However, I did notice some errors in the log file AFTER it was working OK and I thought that someone may need to look at them - if nothing else to determine that they are OK.
The original problem appears to be gone so from that point of view this should be closed.  Thanks.
