We need to add support for unicode ID3 tags.  currently everything is Latin1

To display the tags, or to convert them to latin1?

Or something else entirely?

Encode.pm's encode() / decode() might be what's needed here.

Encode is part of perl 5.8+

Unicode tags are now converted to their Latin1 equivalents.

There are 536 bugs in the database with targets of '---' that were fixed prior to new year 2006.  I am setting them to targets of 6.2.1 to keep them from showing up in my queries.
