Description Philip Meyer 2007-10-31 17:25:22 UTC
During the directory scan, the scanning progress page in the default skin displays the name of each file being scanned.

However, this text is not displayed correctly (characters are not escaped or protected from html/javascript markup).

Eg I see things such as:

M:MusicPhil%27s MusicDownloadsBadly Drawn BoyHow Did I Get Here - My Friend Cubilas.mp3

this is already mentioned in bug 5964, with the problem line. no fix yet, but lets group them anyway.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 5964 ***

I can't see anything specific on that bug report for incorrect display of file names. I see that you added a comment about missing slashes, but it's not clear if that is the same issue.

I see url encoding characters, such as %27 for apostrophies, and filled-in square blob characters after track names, as well as missing backslash characters.

If that is the same issue, and you want to keep the bug info together, then perhaps I should copy a note onto the other bug. However, the title of that bug is quite different, so perhaps this trivial display issue should be kept separate anyway (as this may not be important for 7.0 release, but 5964 may be required).

I'm re-opening the bug, just in case this is comment is otherwise not noticed.

I noticed this today as well. A lot of odd characters shown within filenames during a scan.
Comment 4 KDF 2007-10-31 19:32:15 UTC
unless you are seeing it on skins other than default, it is the same problem, same line of code.
Comment 5 KDF 2007-10-31 19:43:27 UTC
cc'ing michael so it doesn't get lost no longer being part of 5964.

Please remember, folks, this is a development tool...contest or no.

I even think this is a long standing issue. I've always had display problems in the progress page with Björk et. al. I've probably got too used to it...
Comment 7 Michael Herger 2007-11-01 00:36:37 UTC
Ok, this particular case is Default specific.

Phil - are you seeing this in FF/Linux? The url encoded stuff (%27) should display properly.

Change 14285 - minutes late for the nightly build.
