Bugzilla – Bug 5925
RedHat: SqueezeBox cannot connect to min requirements PC.
Last modified: 2009-07-31 10:15:09 UTC
System Info: 697 MHz, 256 MB of RAM, RedHat Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install the SqueezeCenter 7.0a1 RPM, build of 2007-10-24. 2. After going through the settings wizard, find out what the PC's IP address is. 3. Find out the IP address of the SqueezeBox. 4. Ping the SqueezeBox. I works. 5. Try to connect SqueezeBox to the RedHat PC. 6. Notice it cannot connect. Note: On the same PC booted to XP, this SqueezeBox works just fine. It plays songs and all that.
Did you check _why_ it can't connect? And if the server didn't start, _why_ it didn't start? As I've mentioned in an other bug, the RPM didn't work for me neither, but it was due to some permissions issue. Or, in your case, it's probably just not waiting long enough: the slow machine might take a minute or two to start SqueezeCenter. Please give us some more detail. Without any indication _what_ went wrong we can't fix anything.
The server is obviously started if he went through the wizard. Maybe a firewall issue?
Yes, it was the firewall. After it is turned off, the SqueezeBox can connect to the SqueezeCenter now. Closing as WORKSFORME. It would be nice to get a warning or message.
Closing.
