Hello Tom,
Unfortunately that how the Slimserver function with iTunes’s Podcasts, it just read data from the iTunes database. You can open a bug for an enhancement request at this link https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/.

First time I have used the slimp3 since getting podcasts. I thought the
podcast name would appear as a playlist with the individual episodes
appearing like songs in a playlist. Instead the category ³podcasts² appears
as a playlist in itunes and the individual episodes of each of the podcasts
show up like a song but thye are not in any order. Tough to find the one you
want through the device. I had 93 separate randomly organized podcast
episodes to scroll through. They were all there but hard to find.
