Description Justin Fletcher 2007-10-20 03:14:02 UTC
Ok, here we go...

Web Squeezebox Jive
---------------------------------------------------------
Artists Albums Albums
Albums Artists Artists
Genres Genres Genres
Years Music Folder Years
New Music New Music New Music
Random Mix Playlists Favorites
Music Folder Years Music Folder
PlayLists Playlists
Search Music Search
                                               Random Mix

I think that table speaks for itself doesn't it ? :-)

I've filed this against Jive software, but it could equally be the SC that is at fault.

My quick summary of what's here...

Artists/Albums swap in the web interface ? Presumably because Artists is more likely to be used... but since the more restrictive interface is the Squeezebox you'd think that Artists would be the first entry on there if anything...

But it looks like the squeezebox menu is entirely alphabetic, hence the order will change with language (true/false?) and/or collation order (true/false?)

The Jive menu looks like it's based on the Web one, but has Favorites added, and Random Mix tacked on to the end (yes, I know this has only just become a new option on the remote).

I have a strong feeling this is basically already reported. it's certainly already known, but I give up trying to find bugs any more. Someone else can let me know.
Comment 2 Justin Fletcher 2007-10-20 13:36:28 UTC
I do try to search for bugs before I post them; if it is a duplicate then I'll mark it, but searching for 'My Music' in the Jive Software didn't (and still doesn't) show up any dupes. In any case, I felt that the explicit enumeration of the menu items shows where the inconsistencies are.
Comment 3 KDF 2007-10-20 15:34:29 UTC
yes, I know...searching doesn't really work well any more. The summaries and comments are far too inconsistent and many go unmanaged.

It goes by memory, so my note is for hopefully prodding someone else reading this who may remember that there was indeed something like this. Thank you for your list, but not all comments are replies. It was not directed at you, just hoping someone else is aware to keep an eye out for it when it comes to managing bugs and maintaining focus. too many reports on the same issue, just divids the already strained resources.
Comment 4 Richard Titmuss 2007-12-05 09:47:12 UTC
The menus on all three interfaces are not consistently ordered. The only remaining difference is Random Mix is at the bottom of the list.
Comment 5 KDF 2007-12-05 10:02:44 UTC
Web/Player start with Artist->Album. Jive starts with Album->Artist. This ix fixed at change 15050
Comment 6 KDF 2007-12-05 10:22:28 UTC
interesting: the reason Random Mix is showing up in the wrong place seems to be that Jive isn't using the weighting. It's simply taking the array in order. I'll assume that using weighting will be part of Ben's menu rework branch?
Comment 7 Ben Klaas 2007-12-05 11:44:21 UTC
weighting should work right now, but there's definitely no sense spending any time on this until I get the menu rework completed. Slim::Control::Jive will be overhauled significantly, and there is a better than even chance the hooks that Plugins require to add/delete themselves from jive main menu hierarchy will change.
Comment 8 Ben Klaas 2007-12-26 08:17:14 UTC
change 15594 shifts where RandomMix goes in Jive menu, putting it fully inline with what the WebUI and Squeezebox are presenting.
Comment 9 Justin Fletcher 2007-12-31 03:32:08 UTC
Whee! Happy smiley Justin. Looks all nice and consistent to me :-)
