Bugzilla – Bug 585
additional "time to rescan" triggers
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:54:30 UTC
I presume that the slimserver automatically re-scans the library every so often. I don't know how often that is, but it would be nice if it could get re-triggered sometimes. Here is the situation which prompted this feature request. I had a library which had 0 folders and 0 artists and 0 songs in it. I moved some songs into the library by hand, and then browsed them via the webserver. I think that since I broswed to a section of the library which hadn't previously existed, the server could have known that I had somehow gotten more songs into the library, and this would have triggered a rescan. thanks for considering, rob
If you are browsing Music Folder, and you enter a new sub-directory that has new songs, it should be scanning those and adding them. testing with latest CVS on my win2k system confirms this. it does not trigger an entire rescan, but does scan the new songs. can you enter server settings, debugging, check d_scan then open a browser to http://serverIP:9000/log.txt (serverIP needs to be your server addy) then try your test again with another new dir and files. then paste here what happens in the log.txt window.
I'm going to mark this as a dupe of bug704. iTunes, Moodlogic, and MusicMagic each have built in triggers to rescan, and music folder should be fixed in 6.0 based on the db controls. This wont require a rescan, as browsing any folder will now be added without a full rescan. The server also has a plugin for triggering a scheduled rescan. Once the folder update is confirmed, I think this bug report is then fully covered. Please file a new request if there is any new specific trigger desired. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 704 ***
Routine bug db maintenance; removing old versions which cause confusion. I apologize for the inconvenience.
