Description Blackketter Dean 2007-10-13 21:42:20 UTC
This could be part of the plugin install facility or a separate mechanism.

Can we use the new applet installer for this?

We could definately reuse the hooks added for the applet downloader, but possbily not make it part of the applet downloader itself.

Some suggestions for discussion:

Jive UI:
I think the user interface on jive should be part of the current wallpaper settings menu. This could request a list of server hosted wallpapers if it is current attached to a server and download them when selected. Not sure how fast this would be, but its possible you would keep the current menu look and feel, but just have a longer list of wallpapers to browse. Once selected the wallpaper would be saved and used by jive.

SC packaging:
Simplest would be for a plugin to include one or more files in its directory structure and add a <jivewallpapers> tag to the install.xml file which refers to any wallpaper files which may be downloaded.

Initial version added at r927. This requires the latest SC and a plugin which includes the wallpaper files. I'll post an example plugin on the jive forum.

Hey Triode, where was that wallpaper plugin? I couldn't find it...

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40399 includes a simple plugin which has a statically defined wallpaper which should show up on the menu list. There's only one wallpaper due to the attachment size limit on the forum, but its been tested with multiple wallpapers.

The SC api allows plugins to dynamically add entries to the wallpaper list when it is browsed, so I was thinking about a plugin which allows you to select one or more images from you server file system for including on the selection list. Not looked at this yet though...

Ah, cool. Should that go up on the wiki or is it not done yet?
