Description Philip Meyer 2007-10-09 13:49:27 UTC
If I click on the name of a song in the current playlist to display the song information on the left-hand side of the new Default skin, the Play and Add buttons overlap the information.

It looks like this is because the Play/Add button use an absolute position, so if the Artist, album, genre, etc occupies more space than expected, this will clash.

I expect this is the problem, as a song with short names displays okay, until the window is resized to be smaller and the text wraps.

In the example screenshot that I will attach, you can see that I have a song with a long band/orchestra name.

What browser are you using? The spacing is looking too large to me. Counting lines this would have fit in my FF/Opera.
Comment 3 Philip Meyer 2007-10-12 15:33:31 UTC
This is browser independent. I'll upload examples with FireFox and IE7.

If I have short song info values (eg. Artist=Radiohead, Album=In Rainbows, Genre=Progressive Rock, Year=2007), and shrink the width of the browser, this has the same effect as using long titles with a wider browser window.

Note also in the screenshot what happens with the Now Playing panel - the volume control runs off the page.

Michael thinks this is fixed, and it was an IE only issue, but will have a look. But the squished text can't be fixed. Maybe this could be fixed with a special skin in the future.
Comment 7 Philip Meyer 2007-11-05 14:56:21 UTC
I am still seeing the play/add buttons overlapping the genre and year when long text strings are displayed (or the window is made thinner).

I also see the text wrapping in the breadcrumb trail "Home > My Music > artist > album > song", but the breadcrumb vertical area isn't big enough to accommodate two rows of text, so eg. the song title may be unreadable (just see the top of the text on the second row).

Sorry, I've looked at "skins" bug, not "web interface". What's the policy for chosing between skins and web interface? At first sight, it seems to me that was skin related...
Comment 10 KDF 2007-11-11 14:41:41 UTC
robin, in this case it would be a "skins" category to be precise. Thsi involves only one skin, so that's a classic case. Web Interface is probably best for things that are in the SC code, elements that are sereved up incorrectly etc. Skins are more for errors in the html, javascript or template toolkit files. Granted, most users are not exposed to this difference, but this is above all a QA/Developer tool. Users are not expected to have to know the right component. Most important is a detailed, clear description of the problem, criteria and processes for reproducing the problem, and the careful investigation required to produce those details. Having to diagnose custom configs and cases is a huge resource hog in confirming new reports.

Thanks for this answer KDF. I'll try to better know bugzilla categories and to broaden my search next time I want to report a bug.

Change 14687 - move the player controls to the top to allow for wrapping
