Description Philip Meyer 2007-10-08 16:27:50 UTC
If I use advanced search to find songs, sometimes I see duplicate tracks listed in the results.

In the new default skin, the second occurance of the duplicate song cannot be highlighted. In the example screenshot for example, the cursor was hovering over the second occurance of the track named "Lily Hall", but the first occurance is highlighted.

I have checked the url for both hits - they are both for the same file.

Duplicate songs reported in search results
Comment 2 Chris Owens 2007-11-05 10:13:13 UTC
Do you recall what the search was that turned up this result?
Comment 3 Philip Meyer 2007-11-05 15:16:39 UTC
I think this was a search for tracks with a duration less than 20 seconds.

However, if I perform a search for song names containing "Lilly", I still see "Lilly Hall" twice, with the same issue with highlighting on the duplicates.

Comment 4 Chris Owens 2007-12-10 09:56:26 UTC
Philip, do these tracks use cue sheets?

Andy suggests it would be worth a try to clear and rescan everything with all your plugins disabled as well to try to narrow it down.
Comment 5 Philip Meyer 2007-12-11 15:19:35 UTC
No. Checking the example (in the screenshot), there is no cue sheet or playlist containing this song.

Philip would you mind uploading the file? I'm not able to reproduce this I'm curious if maybe I could reproduce it with a file you've seen the issue occur with.

track that appears twice in the search results

I wondered if it was listing the song twice as there are two contributors (two artists in the artist tag, in this case).

However, I have seen other songs that only have one artist (and no band, etc), that also appear in the search results twice.

Philip do you still see this with more recent versions of SC7? I'm trying with your file and I still can't reproduce. I keep this bug in mind when I do searches but never notice this. I searched the forums and doesn't seem to be any mention of this, I'm sure if this were an issue others would notice it as well. Leads me to believe something else might be going on here. Philip any other ideas? Music Magic or iTunes integration or anything else that might have something to do with the duplicate search result?
Comment 9 Philip Meyer 2008-04-08 16:54:21 UTC
I have just tried to run an advanced search for tracks that are less than 20 seconds long. The results are now returning unique tracks (I can't see any duplicates). So I think this bug can be closed.

As an aside, I notice that Song info is not displaying song duration for any mp3 files - only my FLAC files. That appears to be a new bug.
Comment 10 Ross Levine 2008-04-08 17:03:52 UTC
Thats strange 18530 shows mp3 duration for me. Please feel free to open a bug for the issue though, consider attaching a sample file if you wouldn't mind, and we'll take a closer look. Thanks Philip.
