Description David Myers 2007-10-06 07:13:21 UTC
I'd find it helpful to have some sort of font size preference setting for the default web skin, as both the DPI of computer screens and the age of my eyes continue to increase. I'd use it to increase the font size one or maybe two points.

If not a pref, then perhaps a cookie set by buttons or a drop-down on the main screen.

Thanks.

most browsers have a feature to increase/decrease sizes for web pages. does this not work for you?

It works, but it could be better.

Every time you browse to SC7, you'd have to adjust the font size.

In Safari and Firefox on the Mac, 2 steps of font enlargement cause some items to display poorly (such as within the player control area). This happens with only 1 step in Firefox on Ubuntu. Having font enlargement as a supported feature would presumably require these issues to be tested for and resolved for whatever number of font enlargement steps are to be supported.

Not all elements really need to be enlarged, such as the player selection dropdown at the top. The options along the bottom could perhaps be limited to one step of enlargement. Same with the bold menu heading on the left side (like "Home"). The Clear and Save buttons under the playlist start to have issues as the font gets bigger, so you could hold them back, too.

The search input box doesn't enlarge when changing the browser font size, making it unusable with bigger fonts.

Something else that's suboptimal is if you switch to SqueezeNetwork after enlarging the browser font, SqueezeNetwork looks bad in the larger font (text runs over some boundaries ).

just as suboptimal if you change font sizes in code, btw. That is, without writing everything else around it. Far too much effort for dubious widespread gain.
