Bugzilla – Bug 5657
After a night, SqueezeBox, connected to SqueezeNetwork, stopped playing songs.
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:41:57 UTC
Firmware Version: 82 Setup before Hand: The user needs to have a Rhapsody account with a playlist of songs. The SqueezeBox needs to be used with Rhapsody before. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect to Rhapsody directly with a remote control. 2. Play the songs in the PlayList. 3. Play the songs all day long. 4. Come back the next day, notice the songs had stopped playing. 5. Pick up the remote and press the "PLAY" button. The songs start playing again. 6. Let it play all day long again. 7. Come back teh next day, notice SqueezeBox has stopped playing again. 8. At this moment, the SqueezeBox is stuck on quarter of the through "Holding Out For A Hero" by Bonnie Tyler. The time is tuck at "1:03". The screen still says "NOW PALYING". The song info is still streamming through on the bottom half of the display.
Wallace, just to clarify, the SqueezeBox was connected directly to SqueezeNetwork not through SqueezeCenter right?
Yes, it was connected to SqueezeNetwork directly.
Tried the same steps yesterday and let it stream all night long. This bug did not show itself. In fact, it is still streamming fine right now -- 5:36 PM. Did anyone fix anything last night? And how may I debug it if it happens again?
Every SN instance restarts itself around once every 24 hours, if you happened to get bumped to another instance music should normally keep playing, but if a track happened to be just at the end when you got disconnected, it won't restart. This is normal but should be a pretty rare occurance.
This bug did not show up at all after about two days of streamming. It is still playing right now. If the bug is not seen next Monday morning, this user will close it. By the way, the song "Holding out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler is 5 minutes and 46 seconds long. It was stuck at 1:03. It was not at the end of the song.
After 5 days of non stop streaming, this bug finally happened again. However, 5 days of non stop sttreaming sounds pretty reliable to me. Pinging Chris: Is 5 days good enough? How long do people usually listen to music non-stop?
Regardless of whether it's OK or not, there is nothing I can do about this problem.
5 days of non stop steaming is indeed very impressive. There is no need ot fix anything right now. Closing as WONTFIX.
Closing.
