Description James Craig 2007-09-30 11:01:26 UTC
It seems that if an MP3 file provided by the LastFM streaming service is allowed to play to completion, the sound output of the player (SBG in my case) no longer functions for any source. Restarting SlimServer is required to restore audio output.

Notes:
1) I have a SBG, SB2 & Softsqueeze to test this. The problem does not occur on the SB2 or Softsqueeze. I assume that a SB1/Slimp3 will behave the same as the SBG?
2) The LastFM streaming service operates in a very similar way to Pandora. I copied most of the Pandora ProtocolHandler.pm to get started with.
3) If the LastFM tracks are skipped before they complete, the problem does not occur.
4) If a LastFM track is allowed to complete, the next file raises an onUnderrun event immediately after starting.
5) After this point there is no sound from the player (regardless of music source) until SlimServer is restarted.
6) However, the player UI behaves normally while the sound is broken. SlimServer log files also show no problems.

This makes me think that the LastFM MP3's leave the player in some strange state?
I don't know how to investigate this further!

See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38198 for log files.

If it's an issue that affects the decoder of the older players there may not be much we can do at this point. However, debug information from 'source' 'stream' 'slimproto' and 'player.firmware' may turn up something interesting. These can be enabled in the server settings -> debug page, and the log is available in c:\program files\slimserver\server\logs\server.log if you installed in the default directory.

Log file as requested.
First LastFM track played fine.
2nd had no sound, and server jumped to next track after around 20 seconds.
No sound from 3rd LastFM track.
Then I tried to play a local mp3 file. This track wouldn't start playing at all. Then turned player off and stopped server.

How do you get the player working again after it stops playing? Reboot the player?
Comment 4 James Craig 2007-11-01 11:03:29 UTC
Restarting SlimServer gets the player's audio output working OK again. So I'm not really sure if it's a player or server bug...

James.Craig: Are you still having a problem with this? Please try SC 7.0.1 if you still see the issue, then please re-assign the bug to me

Reduce number of active targets for SC
