Description David Myers 2007-09-29 16:44:43 UTC
The great new feature that lets you open a separate browser window for the player control functions isn't large enough with Safari or Firefox/Camino on Mac OS 10.4.10. Manually resizing the window of course corrects the problem.

On Safari 2.04 the window isn't wide enough to allow the power icon to display.

On Firefox 2.007 and Camino 1.5.1 the window isn't tall enough.

Opera 9.23 work OK.

Firefox 2.006 on Ubuntu 7.04 works OK as well.

I should have added that I'm using the nightly RPM from 9/28 (13321).

Resizing is a pain. I've already been using browser detection to get them working so far, as every browser seems to calculate size a little different. The fact that FF isn't working is rather surprising, as this usually is the reference for me, the tool I'm developing with :-).

The Safari issue is something different. It's not a window size issue. But I haven't found out what it is, yet.

I've re-done the popup. Can you still reproduce this issue? If yes, please provide full detail about the OS, browser version, and whether you're using non-standard font size. Thanks!

Seems okay on Firefox.

A small issue, not totally related but perhaps not worthy of it's own bug report, is that in collapsed mode (either docked or undocked), the cyan text doesn't quite fit properly in the rounded text area - it's slightly too low, and hangs over the border.

Although it is looking good in FF2, IE7 is a different matter!

Cleared IE7 cache, SVN14776.

When I open the undocked player panel in IE7, the window is twice as big as needed in collapsed mode. If I expand, the extra space is still present at the bottom.

With each expand/collapse button press, the window width increases by 8 pixels.

Looks great with Safari 3.0.4 on Mac OS 10.4.11 and 10.5.1.

The issue I see with Firefox is apparently related to something in my Firefox or account preferences, but I haven't yet figured out what. The window isn't tall enough on two different Macs, but the Firefox profile on one of those Macs started off as a copy of the other. If I create a new account I don't see the issue, nor do I see it on a third Mac where I didn't copy that profile.

Stranger, I see the problem in Camino only on the accounts where I see it in Firefox, but I don't think I copied my Camino preferences.

This is all with the default font size.

So I have more investigating to do.

OK, I found it.

For Firefox, I had the option "Allow scripts to: Move or resize existing windows" disabled.

For Camino, I had the option "Prevent sites from changing, moving, or resizing windows" enabled.

My bad.

Thanks for the feedback. The resizing will never be perfect, as there are too many variables playing (browser, OS, font settings, window decoration etc.).
