Description Doug Williams 2007-09-29 07:34:06 UTC
With the new default interface the mouse cursor changes to the text cursor (vertical bar) from the hand pointer when over a blank area on the left side of the window. With the blue-grey background of the new interface this effectively makes it almost invisible (at least on my screen). Since there is a delay in the change (both ways) it is even more disconcerting to a new user ("seems" to be more random and unrelated to cursor location even though it is). I would rate this one a low priority cosmetic issue except the new user experience is impacted.

Can you define on what exact page you see this?
Comment 2 Doug Williams 2007-09-30 08:01:46 UTC
The HOME page and the My Music page are the 2 primary ones.
The Random Mix page (only in the lower right corner) also has the problem.
Other areas don't appear to have this problem and I did try to get a partial screen full of data to test.

Random Mix: http://office-sony:9000/plugins/RandomPlay/list.html?
THIS page only has the problem in the lower right section - much less important.

Doug, please make sure you're using the latest slimserver, clear your browser's cache and reload the pages. I had checked in a change for this issue a few days ago and can't reproduce it right now. I'm seeing an arrow in Opera as well as in Firefox.

What browser are you using?

I'm using IE7 on Windows Vista. I've hit the refresh, but not cleared the cache - I will do that this evening. I'm using the 9/29th build so I will install the current one and retest as well.
Thanks

Change 13425 - force the mouse cursor to the default pointer on an empty panel

Installed the 10/1 version and they still have the mouse cursor as the text bar with Windows IE7 and Vista. I purged the cache and even completely reset IE7 after installing the 10/1 build but no change.

Another page (the right side, player list also has the text cursor when there are no songs to pick (hadn't noticed before).

I'm sorry, I can't reproduce this any more. Did you really flush your cache? Reload the left frame? Please open http://yourserver:9000/home.html and force reload it after having cleared the cache. Do you still not see your mouse pointer?

I did everything but uninstall IE7...

I hit the recycle (green arrows icon). I went into tools, options and cleared out all temporary files (and now have to remember all my passwords, etc. again). I went into the tools,options/advanced tab and reset IE7 completely. No change.

Just noticed - it only happens when the SC window is MAXIMIZED. When it is in normal mode you are correct, the arrow cursor is used.

Spoke a bit too soon. I could get it to go away again but I was playing with the max/normal button. I'm also running it in a tab right now - usually I run it alone. Hopefully this will help repo. it.

Change 13648 - show cursor over empty playlist field.

Where else don't you see the cursor?

The only place with any regularity is the player/right side now. When there are no songs in the currently playing list the area just below the grey area (and the grey area blank areas, but I don't think that that matters). The bottom portion of the player light-blue area DOES have the arrow cursor.

This is with the 10/4 build now. I was able to occasionally repo the left side issues on the 10/1 build but not with any repeatability, sorry. I haven't been able to repeat the left side issues on the 10/4 build at all, but I haven't put as much effort into it with this build.

Thanks for the feedback. The right pane is the area I've fixed earlier today. Should be in tomorrow's build. Please reopen if you find another hiding place for the mouse cursor.

Appears to be working now!!!!
Thanks.
