When browsing albums with artwork, the first request sometimes is displayed strangely, if refreshed things get better (see screenshot)

I assume you're on the latest trunk? That's known issue I haven't found a solution for. I did some tweaks yesterday. If you haven't updated, please do so.

You're using Firefox, right?

Latest trunk: yes (revision 13356)
Firefox: yes 

It also seems that after a while, things get in the good place by themselves (automatic refresh maybe?).

yes.
Did a right click on the blue background on the left and everything find its right place.
