Bugzilla – Bug 5590
'switch to squeezenetwork' appears as an option under internet radio, all skins
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:22:41 UTC
additionalLinks.radio hash (Slim::Web::Pages::addPageLinks) includes the link for switching to SN. Apparently this is a bug...I thought we were offering a means to switch to SN via the Web UI in SS7. Am I mistaken, or is it supposed to be in another location?
Hm, well, on Jive we'll have it under Settings -> Music Sources. And we should probably move it under Settings on the player UI. But it doesn't really belong in Settings on the Web UI. It's probably ok in Internet Radio for now.
Consensus is we should remove this link from this location, but still make it available somewhere. Perhaps extras. Ben do you have an opinion?
If it exists anywhere (probably Extras, but no firm opinion on that), I think the link really needs to do some extra magic. 1. connect to SN 2. redirect the browser to http://squeezenetwork.com If it doesn't do that, I can't see this being a useful link anywhere in the web UI
The link does currently do both of those things.
Ah yes, you're quite right Andy. should it go in Music on Demand? Isn't that what SN effectively is? It could go in Extras, but that's effectively buried from a lot of users. It could go in the top menu, but that's clutter to many people (including me)
I think we agreed it should be buried as much as possible from normal users, as there is much less of a reason to switch to SN now.
then I believe it should either go in Extras or be removed
Dean - I guess you have the last word on this. http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?UserInterfaceHierarchy even has it in Music Library...
Actually, it has the Switch To SqueezeCenter in Music Library (the opposite direction). Since we expect users to not do this that often, it seems that Extras would be a good place. I'll update the wiki to this effect. On Jive, though, this should remain under Music Source in Settings.
