Description Wallace Lai 2007-09-26 10:13:52 UTC
Firmware Version: 82

Steps to Reproduce:
1. On the SqueezeBox, go to SqueezeNetwork and play some songs.
2. Turn on a PC with SlimServer already installed. SlimServer truns on automatically.
3. Get out of SqueezeNetwork and select a PC with SlimServer.
4. On my SqueezeBox, notiece there is a PC name that belongs to someone else. However, the IP address is mine.
5. Use the remote to check out and play the songs. They are all my songs.

Note: That PC name has always been available on the SquuzeBox. Only today, the IP address attached to it is mine.
Comment 1 Wallace Lai 2007-09-26 10:26:35 UTC
Work Around:
Select the PC anyway and play a few songs. Go left with the remote and check. The IP addrees for that PC name is now correct. (I showed it to the gentleman. The new IP is indeed his.)

To Reproduec the Bug Again:
Go back to SqueezeBox. No need to play any song. Go back to the list of available Slim'ed PCs. The my IP is attached to someone else' PC again.

sounds more like a dns issue. if you have a network with short lease expiry, perhaps it's not getting updated fast enough when slimserver goes for the info.
Comment 3 Wallace Lai 2007-09-26 14:22:17 UTC
There was a typo on my last entry. It says "Go back to SqueezeBox. No Need to ..."
It should be:

To Reproduec the Bug Again:
Go back to SqueezeNetwork. No need to play any song. Go back to the list of
available Slim'ed PCs right away. My IP is attached to someone else' PC name again.

I need a little clarification. The Squeezbox is connected directly to Squeezenetwork and then you hold the left button for 5 seconds to get to the Squeezebox Setup screen. It is on this screen that the server names no longer match the IP address. Is this correct? What happens when you use the Connect to SlimServer menu item on SqueezeNetwork instead of the 5 second left button? Does Squeezebox connect to the right server?
Comment 5 Wallace Lai 2007-09-26 15:47:13 UTC
Yes, this user was holding the left button for 5 seconds to get to that menu while connected to SqueezeNetwork.
If the "Connect to "SlimServer" menu item is used, then SqueezeBox connects to the right SlimServer. No problem there.

Reducing severity slightly since most users have a very simple home network and won't see this issue.

Felix: Was your recent fix related to IP address changing a fix for this as well?
Comment 8 Felix Mueller 2008-01-22 02:17:50 UTC
I'd say this is fixed with the latest fw with the slim discovery fix, but I haven't tried myself.
Comment 9 Blackketter Dean 2008-01-22 07:51:14 UTC
Wallace: can you please verify that this is fixed?

Comment 10 Wallace Lai 2008-01-22 11:05:45 UTC
Based on comment #8 from Felix, marking this bug as "FIXED".
Comment 11 Wallace Lai 2008-01-22 11:12:37 UTC
Verified with firmware version 86 (SqueezeBox 3). SqueezeCenter used is version 2008-01-22.
Bug as written is no longer seen. The PC with SlimServer has the correct name now. Tried several times. The name of the PC is correct every time.
Performed regression tests. Nothing else seems to be broken around this area.
Marking as "VERIFIED".
