Bugzilla – Bug 5571
Cannot fast foward music played from cue sheets.
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:53 UTC
When I stream a FLAC file to my Squeezebox I'm able to hold FWD for a few seconds and it will begin to seek at 2x, 4x, etc. When I'm playing a FLAC file via cuesheet (ripped with EAC as one large FLAC file) I can't seek with FWD, it just doesn't work.
It cannot work. CUE sheets are transcoded.
(In reply to comment #1) > It cannot work. CUE sheets are transcoded. > I do not believe that. If the cuesheet contains .wav file, ff/rw works fine inspite the fact it is transcoded as well. Still think this bug should be resolved.
It's not about belief, its' simple fact. Single flac with cue sheet does not allow for seek due to the FLAC format. Tanscoding is required not for format issues, but for offset issues of each track. Once the transcoded process is launches, there is no way for slimserver/squeezecenter to affect the process. If you wish to use FFWD/REW, please consider using single flac file per track. EWI, if you look at the activity on this bug, I was NOT the one who 'signed it off'. I merely added a comment pointing out the situation in regard to slimserver's well-known limits on FFWD/REW only. I'd appreciate not having complaint by direct email for things that I did not do. I have nothing more to say here.
Thank you KDF for clearing up the confusion, I think Anoop and possibly EWI simply didn't know that cuesheets require transcoding. I didn't know this until now either, thanks again. EWI if you're confused about who's changing the status of the bug you can click view bug activity below the comment field. Checking it now you'll see that I'm closing this bug.
OK. Maybe I am not fast enough, but why ff/rw works when cuesheet points to .wav file ? It should be transcoded as well according your explanation, but in this case it simply works - it is fact. Does anyone know why ?
