Bugzilla – Bug 5537
Random Mix missing in My Music
Last modified: 2008-05-15 12:59:34 UTC
The Random Mix plugin should be extended to Jive, with a UI similar to SB. The main screen should be: Random Mix Random Song Mix Random Album Mix Random Artist Mix Choose Genres ------------- Under "Choose Genres" should be a list of the genres in the user's library, with checkboxes next to them. The default should have all items checked.

Random mix is still not showing up on Jive using the latest Windows nightly and f714 jive FW. Is there some sort of config change required for it to become visible in the menu? Here's my server info SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 13905 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 Server IP address: 192.168.2.3 Perl Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt
Just to make sure we double-check the obvious...this should appear as the bottom-most item under My Music, which means you have to scroll down to get to it, as there are already enough items there to fill one screen. Can you confirm that it's really missing? If that's confirmed, I will load SqueezeCenter on to my XP machine and point my jive at it to see if I can reproduce. If I can't, I may be asking for some additional debug information. thanks- #!/ben
Yep, there's no Random Mix on the My Music page. The last item is Search and the highlight bar then jumps back to the top of the screen. Random mix appears on the physical player and the Default UI, just not on the Jive remote. The plugin is working. I used it today from the regular remote. I'm not sure if this related. I see Random mix mentioned in the Backtrace. Hitting play or pause from the web UI causes this backtrace when using the Classic UI. Confirmed that Random Mix does not appear when browsing a Windows-based SqueezeCenter.
stopped and restarted SqueezeCenter a couple of times while debugging, and Random Mix just started appearing. I'm at a loss...now that it's there I can't reproduce the issue For those affected by this bug, if you want to help: power down your Jive go to SqueezeCenter Settings->Debugging *note the location of the server log file* find Network.cometd in the list and set it to Debug check the box for "save these settings as default" save settings restart Squeezecenter after Squeezecenter is up and running, restart your Jive after main menu has loaded for your player, check My Music to see if Random Mix is still missing if it is, *attach your server.log to this bug* by following the link to "Create a New Attachment" above

Apparently the 'jive' plugin is no longer necessary for Jive support. I deleted the 'jive' plugin folder and restarted SC and my remote and Random Mix now appears in My Music.
This is why SVN updating is preferred for Beta testing. Updating from 7 to 7 will on occasion require removal of files that are not removed as a matter of course, to allow users to have their own custom plugins, skins, etc. It is also expected that users keep tabs on postings in forums and on checking lists. the information is there, so it should be the responsibility of the many to keep track, rather than the few to dispurse duplicates of this info to every venue, every day. thank you for posting this detail. hopefully others in this position will find it. I won't mark it resolved, yet, but it should be after a bit of time for others to find.
Are people still having this problem after deleting the jive plugin folder, or can this bug now be closed?
Good point. The cause is known and it's a user-end fix due to nightly updates. The default bugs search includes resolved reports, so it can still be easily found for anyone who is still running into it.
Yes ,think this bug can be closed.
This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1 Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug. To download this version, please navigate to: http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html
