Description Blackketter Dean 2007-09-14 13:12:34 UTC
We should have a way to set the player name from Jive settings, under Player settings, using the text entry widget and insert and delete soft buttons. It should default to the name assigned to the player by SN or SS. (See bug 4418)
Comment 1 KDF 2007-09-14 19:28:44 UTC
settings->player settings->change player name (that's what I have with r474)
Comment 2 Blackketter Dean 2007-09-14 19:44:12 UTC
Ho! What do you know! :)

Nice work.

So only minor tweaks needed:

- Rename it "Player Name"
- Replace the text popup with standard text editing popup with Insert and Delete soft buttons

- Rename it "Player Name"

done, r13036

- Replace the text popup with standard text editing popup with Insert and
Delete soft buttons

I don't understand what you are saying here.

See the new network setup menus, this includes two 'soft' buttons for insert and delete. The same treatment is needed for the search page too.

I must be really dense...I see the soft buttons, but how do I _use_ them. I've hit every button on the remote and nothing seems to activate them...
Comment 6 Blackketter Dean 2007-09-19 08:44:21 UTC
The soft buttons are supposed to correspond to the ADD and PLAY buttons at the top.

Not working for you?
Comment 7 Ben Klaas 2007-09-19 08:55:46 UTC
Doesn't work for me, either from Test Applet (via jive-desktop) or from SetupNetworks (on the remote itself)

Does it work for you?
Comment 8 Ben Klaas 2007-09-24 07:46:16 UTC
Giving this one a bump, adding Richard. Do soft buttons work? I cannot get any response from them in either network setup (on jive) or test applet (on desktop)
Comment 9 Ben Klaas 2007-09-24 12:59:46 UTC
Okay, soft buttons kind of work...insert moves the text entry forward, delete does nothing (bug 5535).

Comment 10 Richard Titmuss 2007-10-05 13:57:08 UTC
Ben the soft buttons are just visual clues. Look at the WPA setup for an example.
Comment 11 Ben Klaas 2007-11-07 13:46:30 UTC
SC-driven softbutton support added in jive r839 and SC change 14482

moving to FIXED

I am at the November 8 nightly, r840. The Delete softbutton works as expected. The Insert softbutton is not working the way I expected. It inserts a space, and advances to the next character. The inserted space is not editable.
