Bugzilla – Bug 5469
Software Update menu is empty
Last modified: 2007-10-31 14:44:50 UTC
Hardware: Jive PQP2, firmware = sdi@padbuild #29 Tue Sep 11 Problem: When you connect Jive to a wireless network, but do not connect it to SlimServer, go to Settings > Remote Settings > Software Update and the menu is empty. We need to be sure the path to upgrade the firmware is solid, even if there is no SlimServer available to connect to.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'the path is solid'. Are you expecting if there's not going to be anything in a menu that that menu doesn't even appear?
Sorry, no. I'm expecting that there needs to be path available to upgrade the firmware, even if they have no SlimServer running and available.
You mean for the user case where a person only uses Jive with SqueezeNetwork?
Let me broaden and clarify this: * If they are connected to SlimServer and select "Software update" that menu should never be empty * If they are connected to SqueezeNetwork and select "Software update" that menu should never be empty If there are connection problems preventing the download of firmware, we need to alert the user of those problems. Honestly, I suspect this was a firmware / server mismatch, from what I understand now with hindsight. But something we want to watch for nonetheless.
At the moment if your not connected to slimserver then this menu will be empty. Currently you can't connect to squeezenetwork. I'll add a default option that will allow firmware updates from squeezenetwork, even if you have not successfully connected to either.
Added a default url to download firmware from http://www.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/7.0/jive.bin, when jive is not connected to SC or SN. Fixed in r781.
