Description Blackketter Dean 2007-09-14 12:02:59 UTC
After a timeout, jive should show a screen indicating that it can't connect. Text can be like this:

Problem Connecting

Try again >
Choose Music Source >

This remote is having a
problem connecting to
<servername>.

It should continue to try to reconnect in the background and if successful, return to the standard UI.

Probably a sub-part of this bug, there seems to be various ways to get into a state when SqueezeCenter dies that Jive is displaying a menu for one of the connected players that contains no menu options. There is no way out of this menu that I have been able to find other than rebooting Jive.

Easiest way to get into this state is this:

1) connect two players to the same squeezecenter
2) Verify you can control them with Jive
3) Kill squeezecenter
4) Select the other player

As Jive is player centric, this is really an error when your player goes away (which might be because slimserver or squeezenetwork are not responding).

After discussing with Dean we came up with this variation:

Problem Connecting

Try Again
Choose Music Source
Choose Player

<playername> is having trouble connecting to <musicsource>.

Initial fix in r889, this adds an alert window with a 'try again' option.
Comment 8 Richard Titmuss 2007-11-20 14:50:23 UTC
Initial work on this bug is completed. The Choose Music Source and Choose Player options will be added as part of the work on bug 5467.

Added Choose Music Source and Choose Player options in r1526.

This bug has recently been fixed in the latest release of SqueezeCenter 7.0.1

Please try that version, if you still see the error, then reopen this bug.
