Bugzilla – Bug 5458
Holding down Home/Power button takes too long to power off
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:22:11 UTC
Holding down the Jive's power button does not power the unit off like it used to.
Try holding it longer, hard power off is now 20 seconds, I believe a soft power down is currently in the works for ~10 seconds.
Currently holding the POWER button for 11 seconds turns the unit off. This is too long. GPS doc details 5 seconds for off? Further-- how will you tell the difference between Soft and Hard power off? In fact, what IS the difference?
The soft power off will be done by the firmware, and it will shutdown jive cleanly. This has not been implemented yet. The hard power off is done in the hardware, and is just in case the firmware has crashed so you don't need to remove the battery.

Fully fixed in r861. Press-hold of home key will bring you to a confirm/cancel menu for powering down the remote. Alternatively, there is a menu item in Settings->Advanced Settings->Power Down to do the same thing. There is a 2 second popup "Goodbye" message to the screen, then it does a os.execute("poweroff") to shutdown nicely. Shiny!

Holding Home/Power down just shuts the jive off with the below popup message > > There is a 2 second popup "Goodbye" message to the screen, then it does a > os.execute("poweroff") to shutdown nicely. > >
