Bugzilla – Bug 5432
Random mix plugin no longer at menu top level
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:53 UTC
Think this might be part of the slim server software - so might need reassigning. There doesn't seem to be the "play all songs at random" - i.e. random playlist generation from entire library, which was the main playback mode used before we updated
I'm confused...can you specify which "upgrade" we're talking about? You mention that this may be slimserver, so are you pointing out a missing feature after upgrading slimserver or is it something you feel is missing from the new Jive software platform features?
Update was to the Sunday 9th Sept build of slim server 7. This was in addition to the latest build of the jive.bin After revisiting the SqueezeBox using the IR remote, it would seem that this functionality is in "plugins" - i don't remember it being that difficult to find previously, it's not something i'd have assumed was a plugin. I'd guess that would point at the Slim Server or SqueezeBox The Jive software doesn't seem to have the ability to use access that functionality, at least not in the same way. You'll have to excuse the rather ignorant response - i'm a bit of a noob and just getting used to where the hardware and software separate in term of their integration. :)
ok, I think I understand. The RandomPlay menu item used to be at the top level of menu items by default. It isn't any more due to the changes in the way plugins are handled. The old menu pref will no longer match the new plugin. We'll need a pref-migration script to handle it. If you go to player settings->menus, you can remove PLUGIN_RANDOMPLAY and add "Random Mix" to get the feature back. You can also press and hold the shuffle button on the remote to instantly start a random mix of the type last selected through the plugin (by default, it's random tracks). I'm not sure who gets this stuff by default now, so bouncing back to Chris (it's not really under Richard's scope)
fixed at change 13006 for trunk (v7.0a1 only). Should be available in Sept 14 build. please reopen if there are any problems.
This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
