The date format settings for 1st Jan may be ambiguous - UK tends to use dd.mm.yyyy

Heh, realised my description might be ambiguous - what i mean to say is that 
where you have 01/01/07, for example, it's difficult to derive which format it's in, i.e. dd.mm.yy or mm.dd.yy etc
