I awoke today to a new firmware offering for my SB3,  and when I accepted it, the Jive started beeping and displaying a full screen of garbage characters.  

We should have a single overlay that says: "Squeezebox firmware update in progress.\nThis might take a minute." for all SB-related player.

Is this Mac specific? Tried on my PC and this issue is not present.

No, this should be a platform agnostic problem.  Sounds like it's fixed.

This bug has now been fixed in the 7.1 release version of SqueezeCenter!  Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com if you haven't already.

This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.0 release version of SqueezeCenter!
