Bugzilla – Bug 5341
Favorites not showing up in Nightly (file not found)
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:53 UTC
In the latest nightly, favorites are not showing up - an error of "file not found" is occuring instead on the main SB display. Favorites can be seen, altered, and played from the web browser. I'm tossing it to Database, but that doesn't sound right (it's not web, since that works, and it's not a display problem, and it's not a Playlist...)
Would player UI be better? Also, please leave the targets undefined as the qa group uses this for review/triage. This appears to be working on my system. Are you not able to get a list of any favourites on the player, or is it a case of the favourites themselves reporting file not found when you try to play? Did you install fresh or upgrade from a 6.5.* release or nightly? Check to see if you have a favorites.opml file in your playlist folder.
Sorry about the component selection, will leave it blank next time. I'll check things tonight when I get home. I had 6.5.4 running, was having trouble installing the 7.0 nightlies - 8-30 worked. I did an uninstall (of 6.5.4, installed & uninstalled nightlies, rebooted, etc..), so things aren't "clean". I could do a few test cases if you have recommendations. The problem is that Favorites are showing up in the Web UI, but when browsing to Favorites on the SB, it gives an error (file not found, I believe). These favorites are web radio stations (Radio Paradise & NPR). Questions: Where is the default file location for Favorites stored? (I'll make sure it's there first, though it should since it's showing up in the Web UI). Permissions shouldn't be a problem since it's on XP, not Linux Is there a proceedure for really - really - cleaning out the system? I'm assuming there are some registry entries or other cruft left around after the uninstaller finishes, no? I could easily do a 6.5.4 install (backed up the SS directory), and do an upgrade install as a test. The workaround is to stick the favorites in Playlists, though that's not elegent.
default location is the playlist folder as favorites.opml for cleaning out, you would delete c:\program files\slimserver\, which includes the Cache folder and the prefs folders (subfolders of server). Deleting favorites.opml from the playlists folder gets rid of the favorites. I am still unclear on the nature of the problem. Are the favorites not showing up at all?? You mention browsing, so do they show up but not play? for logging/debugging, try server settings->debugging and set "favorites" to DEBUG. Check the log while trying to browse for more information.
I have seen this recently. I will update the bug.
Favorites in 7.0 are stored in an opml file called favorites.opml This needs to be stored in a writable location. It defaults to the playlist folder and if this is not set it will use the cache folder. I suspect what may be happening is that the favorites web browser can't create a file in the playlist folder and hence it is not available for the favorites player browser to use. Is your playlist folder read only (or was it)?
I've added some some more checks to avoid favorites trying to use a the playlist folder if it is read only in change 14585. This may help this problem. If it reoccurs, it would be useful to see the output of logging "favorites".
That change seems to have fixed this issue. Feel free to re-open if needed.
This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
