Bugzilla – Bug 5313
Enhancement Request: Set the volume at 8 or 9 as default after install.
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:12:53 UTC
System Info: XP Sp2 ENU MediaPlayer Version: 11 Steps to Reproduce: 1. Put a CD into the XP machine. 2. Media Player 11 pops up automatically. 3. Rip the tracks into WAV lossless format. 4. Play the tracks with MediaPlayer with the volume at 50%. 5. Notice the songs are pretty audible. 6. Start SLimServer, rescan everything. 7. Set the vlume at 5 or 6. 8. Play the same songs. 9. Notice the songs are not very audible. (Volume of the speakers had not been changed.) 10. Setting the volume of SlimServer to 8 or 9 makes it much more audible.
Note: After the install, volume on SlimServer after install is 6 right now.
is it not better to keep the volume defaulted rather low as you would not want to have the higher volume on a fresh install and risk blowing up an expensive set of speakers/amp. Please don't forget that slimserver is primarily there to drive the Hardware players
I don't see a compelling reason to change this behavior now.
This bug is being closed since it was resolved for a version which is now released! Please download the new version of SqueezeCenter (formerly SlimServer) at http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html If you are still seeing this bug, please re-open it and we will consider it for a future release.
