Description Lennart.Bie 2007-08-13 11:37:15 UTC
With Slimserver 6.5.3 on WinXP and all my music on my network drive, I happened to view my albums (with the normal album view) while my drive was off line. I got the famous question mark on all albums on the present view, which was not surprising, but when I discovered that my network drive was off and switched it on, all the albums with the question mark retained the question mark display also after a computer restart. My little mishap must have caused the cover art cache for my first albums to be overwritten. The rest of them, that I did not display with the NAS off, was ok.

I found no other way to get my cover art back than to rescan (a one hour task) :(

Sounds like a duplicate or variation of bug 5067. The problem is that when you browse in any of the modes, SlimServer actively recatalogs files that it thinks are missing or changed. Offline storage is not dealt with nicely by SlimServer at all.

Yes, it seems to be similar to bug 5067

As you pointed out in your reply to Andy Ballingall, instead of try to clean up missing
albums/tracks, it is better to leave it until a rescan. Or, while cleaning up, fstat the
volume and if found not online skip clean up action for that particular album/track.
Should not require too much code.

This is of course a very important area, as it jeopardize the integrity of the database
and volumes go on and off line much more frequently nowdays and even more so in the
future. It is very bad when the database is not in sync with you music collection for
this type of reason.

Many thanks for your reply.
