Even if it takes a few for the screen to get started up., the user  should have some feedback that the unit is starting up.  The key backlights would be adequate.  (Better would be to get the splash screen up sooner, but I think that this is too hard.)

Fixed in r506-508. You need a new bootloader, this should be used in the next production run.
