Bugzilla – Bug 5230
Backlight brightness ranges should be lower
Last modified: 2008-12-15 12:37:28 UTC
We need to tune the backlight brightnesses for both the keypad and LCD to go even lower than the current minimum. This may require a change to the backlight driver to increase the frequency of the PWM carrier for those items.
I'll take this one, as it will need kernel changes.
An increased brightness range is in r408. I have tried this on a P7 board. Note that as the backlight is still wired for digital control some settings are a little strange! Dean please review and let me know what min-max values you would like for both the lcd and keypad. The maximums are: jivectl 11 0xFFFF # backlight on full
and: jivectl 13 0xFFFF # keypad on full
bump
Sorry, I want to see this with the new PWM friendly circuit with the correct cap value on the MPQ parts. Will get back to you asap.
bump, ... and feedback on the key backlight too please.
jivectl 13 0xf500;jivectl 11 0x1000 is where I think it should be at the darkest (but not off) level. How's that for you?
The current code has minimum values of: lcd backlight 0x7ff key backlight 0x3ff These are both lower than you suggested minimums of 0x1000 and 0xb00 respectively (the key backlight has been fixed so 0x00 is off). I have reduced the key backlight level in rXXX as requested by Fred Bould. I am going to mark this bug as fixed, please reopen if you think the levels need adjusting again.
