Bugzilla – Bug 5191
FLAC file: Changing artist's name puts two contributors in the SlimServer. Cannot get rid of one.
Last modified: 2011-11-06 23:25:10 UTC
System Info: Gateway, P4, 1.9 GHz, 1.25 GB in RAM OS: Win 2K SP4 ENU Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download and install today's 7.0a1 build -- 2007-07-26. Install it. SlimSErver starts automatically. 2. Add the attached flac file to the playlist. 3. Use Mp3Tag app to change the artist's name to someone else. 4. Stop and restart SlimServer. 5. Clear the playList then add the same flac file back to it. 6. Use SQLyog to check the contributor_track table. 7. Notice there are two contributors for this track. 8. Check the contributor_album table. 9. Notice there are two contributors for this album also. 10. On a version of 7.0a1 that has web interface, this tester noticed the artist displayed for is in 'Person 1, Person 2' format. (Web interface does not on today's 7.0a1 build.) 11. Check the extended tag of this file with Mp3Tag app. The second person is not there any more. Work Around: Unisntall SlimSErver, then re-install it.
Created attachment 2074 [details] Track in question.
Workaround is to perform a clear and rescan.
What affect would this have on actual users. Andy? Wallace?
If the name of the artist is changed by the user, both the old and the new artists may show up on the SqueezeCenter. That may cause a problem. That means the DB of SC is not as super super super robust. However, if people hardly ever change the name of the artist in tracks, then this is a minor issue. Should this be targetted to the future instead?
Will look at this post-7.0
