Description Austen Milner 2007-06-25 16:18:21 UTC
The cover art browser screen only shows the default grey icon with a question mark despite valid art being present - it shows up when an album is playing and when that is selected for detail in the left pane.

The problem appears to be playlists with broken references. When the playlists folder is left blank and a full rescan is done the album art reappears.

Ross could you have a go at trying to reproduce this one with 6.5.3 and 7.0? Save any sample files you create or use and attach them to the bug to ease reproducing in the future.

Austin would you mind attaching a sample file that will demonstrate this behavior?

I'm having a similar problem. I run XP and 6.5.1. Recently added cover.jpg files are not showing in the album views, but do show up when you click on the album. I haven't tried fooling with the playlist folder. The recently added files are only add because they are generally smaller than the typical amazon file (say 150x150 rather than 300x300 or 500x500).

cover art in gallery view is only allocated at the end of a full wipe and rescan. If there is artwork on 'now playing' and in the album track list (which is found on-the-fly) then likely the artwork is ok, but the scan has likely failed to complete, causing artwork to be left off. d_import, d_artwork logging will help to ensure the scan is properly completing. Also, in cases on windows, one user had the extentions hidden, resulting in files named folder.jpg.jpg when manually renaming.

You will need one of the more recent nightly builds in order to use d_artwork with the scan.

Ross, this is a repeat of a different bug, just showing itself in an unpredictable way.
This is the McAfee Viruscan problem where it prevents temp SQL files being produced and crashes the Album cover scan.

This seems to come up for some on a regular basis - can it be added to FAQ's ?

Thanks to Dan for improving the documentation in our FAQ to reflect this issue more accurately. In a few days the online FAQ entry should be updated, thanks again Dan.
