Description Marc Sherman 2007-06-21 17:38:25 UTC
On the Browse By Genre page, the header shows a summary count of the albums, tracks, and artists in the genre. However, that count seems to be including all albums by any artists that are in the list, not just the albums that are tagged with the genre.

For example, I have 9 albums by the Rheostatics. Only one of those albums is tagged with the "Childrens" genre. However, when I browse by genre and select the Childrens genre, the summary shows "10 albums with 161 songs by 2 artists." -- all 9 Rheostatics albums, plus a single Sharon Lois & Bram album.

Note that if I then click on the Rheostatics, it correctly only shows me the single Childrens album, not all 9 albums, so this is just a problem with the summary counts.

Steven, would you put together some test data so that Wallace can add this to the automated tests when he returns?

This behavior is still in SqueezeCenter 7. Assigning to unassigned for review.

is this still a problem in trunk? I tried this out at 17844 and it seems to count ok with my dataset.

It looks like it is working fine for me too.
Comment 7 Andy Grundman 2008-03-14 08:48:03 UTC
Marking fixed since it appears to work for at least 2 people.
Comment 8 James Richardson 2008-05-07 10:12:44 UTC
Verified fixed in 7.0.1 - 19422

I've just found a case where this doesn't seem to be working.

I browsed to Genres > Ambient > Tangerine Dream, and it listed:

Ambient Monkeys
Tangerine Dream

No Album
U2, Death In Vegas, Leona Lewis, Ocean Colour Scene, Page & Plant, Coverdale & Page

It reported "2 albums with 1651 songs by 2 artists."

So it looks like it's now reporting album counts correctly, but song and artist counts are incorrect.

It's strange that "No Album" is included, because when I click on it, there are no Tangerine Dream songs listed on "No Album".
