Description Hugh Pyle 2007-06-12 05:25:46 UTC
Enhancement request: configurable digital delay on the analog output relative to the S/PDIF output. (Or vice versa).

Rationale:
I'm using a bi-amplified Klipschorn system. The bass driver is in a folded horn; this means it's physically delayed by about 7 feet (7ms) relative to the mid/high drivers. I would like to be able to compensate for this time alignment problem, but current Squeezebox/Transporter hardware don't allow that; the only way is to use an external unit such as the Behringer DCX2496, which introduces all sorts of extra sonic issues.
If the digital-output and analog-output signal paths can be processed separately, adding a circular buffer to delay signal to the analog outputs relative to the digital outputs by approx 300 samples, then I could continue to use the Transporter as single source and mid/high DAC, and have an external DAC drive the bass channel.

I don't think this is possible with the current architecture. I will try to verify. We will certainly keep it in mind for future products.

Alas, can't fix with the current hardware.
