Bugzilla – Bug 50
efficient access to timepoints within long files
Last modified: 2004-05-04 00:47:42 UTC
I use the SLIMP3 to play back large mp2 format files recorded from DAB. Some of these files are 4+ hours long (at 192kbps CBR). In the absence of an effective mp2 editor which does not require a format change (to mp3 for example) to chop these files into smaller chunks, the only way to listen to them is from beginning to end. Using the remote to fast forward usually crashes before any meaningful forwarding through the file has been accomplished. In an ideal world the solution might be a clickable timeline allowing access to any point within a file, and maybe numeric fields to enter a timepoint to begin playback. Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=412228&aid=772532&group_id=34726
Don't CUE files do accomplish this?
One approach that makes sense to the user (I don't know how easy it would be to program) would be Press Pause, enter a time with numeric keys, press Pause again to play from that time position. Or, not as efficient for the user, but easier to implement, press Pause, press Rewind or Forward, press Pause, to move a set time (five or fifteen minutes) through the track.
